about

We first recorded the King Mackerel songs at TGS Studio in Bingham Township, Orange County, N.C., just ahead of our second Rhythm Alley run of the show, February 1986 -- Don Dixon said, "The best way to rehearse for the performances is to go on and record the songs. That way we'll lock in the arrangements!" We later added in a couple of songs -- "Food Chain" and "Down by the Edge of the Sea" -- that were recorded live during a two-night January 1987 stint at the West Bank Downstairs Theatre, an Off-Off Broadway house (now the Laurie Beechman Theatre) below Steve Olsen's wonderful West Bank Cafe, 9th Avenue and 42nd Street in New York City.
